Job description

Food Safety and Quality Manager to oversee and ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality within our organization. The Food Safety role is to administer policies and procedures related to quality and food safety, supervising the QA technician team, through performance, monitoring, and development of quality systems and processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety programs that comply with FDA regulations and industry best practices. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to coordinate quality inspections effectively.

Roles & Responsibilities

       SQF Practitioner, ensures proper execution of Food Safety and Quality testing and reporting.

       Maintains the Quality Management Systems (QMS) and verifies procedure compliance, including but limited too: HACCP, GMP, Formula Control, and other prerequisite programs to meet SQF Food Quality Standards.

       Perform record review and monitor compliance to specifications, methods, procedures, GMP, and HACCP, food safety programs.

       Verify full implementation of HACCP, FSMA, and CGMP requirements and programs.

       Identify gaps and provide solutions to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and company requirements or needs of the facility.

       Lead and maintain quality control and verification systems, including procedures, processes, and sampling tests, to ensure that all products manufactured meet food safety and quality requirements.

       Perform and monitor food safety and quality management systems through data analysis, process review, and verification activities.

       Lead training and development of the Quality Assurance Technicians, scheduling, and delegating tasks outlined in the Food Safety Plans, SOP Manuals, and other supporting procedures, including monitoring and verification activities.

       Perform data analysis focused on proactive reporting vs reactive for food safety and quality

       Maintain defined quality key performance metrics focused on continuous improvement methodology

       Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with USDA, and FDA requirements.

       Coach and mentor employees on food safety and quality processes.

       Management of the Non-Confirming Equipment and Product Program

       Conduct routine plant inspections to verify compliance with regulatory requirements .

       Support, develop, & administer quality programs and procedures for Quality Improvement

       Lead food safety & quality investigations for non-conformances

       Lead food safety and quality audits of assigned area

       Member of plant food safety, crisis management, and food defense team

       Assist in the development and execution of quality training programs to ensure proper training of all personnel

Qualifications

       Applied knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety Preventative Controls/SQF (or equivalent GFSI scheme)

       Competent in coaching and team development.

       Good understanding of hygienic design

       Applied knowledge of HACCP/Food Safety Preventative Controls/SQF (or equivalent GFSI scheme)

       Skilled in the development of SOPs, policies, and job breakdowns.

       Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.

       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

       Must be attentive to detail and demonstrate accuracy.

       Ability to work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.

       Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

       Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

       Quality Leadership 1+ Year REQUIRED
