Position Title: Food Safety/QA Superintendent IIDepartment: Technical Services
We are seeking a Food Safety/QA Superintendent II to lead food safety and quality initiatives within a production environment. Reporting to the Technical Services Director, this role oversees FSQA supervisors and staff, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, animal welfare, and export requirements. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with technical expertise in food safety systems, process improvements, and quality management.
Lead and develop FSQA team to achieve safety, food safety, quality, animal welfare, and export goals.
Oversee HACCP, SSOP, and other quality/food safety programs.
Drive process improvements and reduce customer claims through engineering and quality controls.
Supervise FSQA Supervisors and ensure compliance with USDA and regulatory standards.
Conduct training sessions for FSQA staff and plant teams.
Serve as backup to the Technical Services Director during audits.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality and processing issues.
Promote a strong safety culture through monitoring, reporting, and annual LOTO training.
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field (Meat Science, Microbiology, Engineering, etc.) preferred; or 5+ years of industry experience.
Supervisory experience in food safety and quality assurance required.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Bilingual skills a plus.
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.
Proficient with basic computer applications.
Production environment with exposure to chemicals, machinery, sharp tools, extreme temperatures, and noise.
Requires 40+ hours per week, including weekends as needed.
