Associate IP Litigation Attorney

Practice Area: Intellectual Property & Patent Litigation

Location: Washington, DC (also may sit in SF or NYC) | Onsite/Hybrid

Salary: $225,000 to $375,000 base salary + bonus based on exceeding annual billables

Schedule: Big law billables, 1900 to 2000+ annual expectation, bonus based on exceeding this and other individual and group goals

Global AmLaw 50 law firm with one of the most active intellectual property litigation practices in the capitol district.

The firm is seeking a highly qualified associate with 3+ years of experience in litigation on patentability, inoperability, freedom-to-operate, inter partes review (IPR) boards and PTAB counsel.  This is in support of the firms always bustling IP litigation practice and would preferably sit out of Washington, DC however may sit in SF or NYC as well.

The firm's practice is Chamber's ranked band two and is known for handling groundbreaking patent, trade secrets, and commercial disputes in the artificial technology, software development, machine learning, and other compsci realms.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years of experience in practice with specialty litigating on intellectual property and patent development, protecting clients' interests in IP and developing novel technology and modern marvels in life sciences, computer science, artificial intelligence, learning language model development, machine learning, etc.
  • Experience preparing or responding to inter partes review boards (IPR) to purpose and prepare proposed responses to be filed before the Patent Board and in submission to jurisdiction of the USPTO.
  • Superb academic credentials that demonstrate above-and-beyond performance tendency.
  • Must have some prior experience within private practice of law, with a mix of in-house is acceptable. 
  • Preferably with experience as external counsel for another top law firm with a band 1-5 Chamber's rank in IP Law.
  • Graduate degree required with active USPTO registration. Patent bar is preferred
  • Must be admitted to the state bar or with the UBE's to allow for timely waiving into the Capitol.
