The work schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with 1 hour lunch breakJob Responsibilities:• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary• Assist with processing of specimens when needed• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipmentPreferred Testing Familiarity:• Kit Testing: BD Veritor Flu, Osom Strep A, SureView UHCG• DCA Vantage HA1C• Urinalysis Clinitek Status• Sysmex Poch-100i (No manual smear reviews are performed at this location)• Manual Urine Microscopic Evaluations• Manual Wet PrepJob Requirements:• A minimum of 6 months experience in clinical lab testing with human specimens is required.• Experience in laboratory testing is required.• Experience in phlebotomy is preferred.• ASCP certification is preferred but not required.• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.• Flexibility depending on business needs.
IN ORDER FOR CANDIDATES TO QUALIFY THEY MUST MEET THE CLIA STANDARDSFOR TESTING PERSONNEL: [Candidates must posses at least 1 of the below]-Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory ScienceOR-BS in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an acredited college or university WITHatleast 1 year of training or experience in specialty inwhich testing will be performed. Such training must be equivalent to that received in a schoolof Medical Technology.OR-90 Semester hours from an accredited institution that include the following: 16 semesterhours of Biology courses, 16 Semester ours of chemistry [must include atleast 6 hours ofinorganic Chemistry], and 3 Semester hours of Math- along with having completed anaccredited Clinical Laboratory training program or 1 year of documented Clinical LaboratoryTraining, or experience in the specialty that testing is to be performed.OR-Associates Degree in Medical Technology.
