Note: This position offers a hybrid work schedule. Employees must be able to work on-site some of the time at our client’s Rancho Mirage, CA office.
Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have an active California Bar license and at least 1 year of experience handling workers’ compensation cases.

Job Description

  • Manage a full caseload of workers’ compensation matters from intake to resolution
  • Develop case strategy and evaluate legal issues, including medical and vocational evidence
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials as needed
  • Draft legal documents including settlement demands, trial briefs, and motions
  • Collaborate with and mentor legal support staff to ensure effective case progression
  • Provide guidance to non-attorney staff and assist in challenging client communications
  • Engage in ongoing client interaction, including negotiation and case evaluation
  • Utilize legal case management systems (e.g., SmartAdvocate) for docket management
  • Participate in internal team meetings, strategy discussions, and firmwide initiatives
  • Help foster a supportive and positive team environment

Qualifications

  • Active license to practice law in California
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience handling workers’ compensation cases (plaintiff or defense)
  • 3+ years preferred
  • Trial and deposition experience is a plus
  • Strong legal research, writing, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multitask efficiently
  • Professional communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
