 Senior Electrical Testing Technician Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Testing Technician for HIGH voltage to join our growing team in Corpus Christi, TX. This is a field-based role focused on the testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high-voltage substation systems. The ideal candidate brings solid technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in the power delivery environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct field testing, troubleshooting, and start-up of substation and switchgear equipment.

  • Work with a variety of power system components such as:

    • Protective relays and relay systems

    • Circuit breakers

    • Power and instrument transformers

    • Control panels and metering devices

    • Power cables, motors, batteries, and alarm systems

  • Identify system issues and provide detailed recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Document test results and prepare thorough service reports for clients and internal teams.

  • Interface with engineers to update and mark up electrical drawings.

  • Maintain accurate schedules and support project timelines.

  • Apply electrical theory, standards, and best practices in every task.

Senior Electrical Testing Technician Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Technology or related field, or equivalent experience in the high-voltage electrical industry.

  • 4+ years of hands-on field experience working with high-voltage equipment.

  • Understanding of electrical AC/DC principles, substation components, and protection schemes.

  • Familiarity with:

    • PowerDB or similar data management software (preferred)

    • NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI codes and standards

    • Ground grid and electric field theory

  • Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 50%.
