Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (recent poly required)
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join our mission-critical, fast-paced program located in Annapolis Junction, MD. This is a vital onsite role supporting a large-scale, enterprise-level effort that encompasses:
Software maintenance and development
IT support (Network/Workstation/Server)
Systems integration and life cycle support
Enterprise application development
Network engineering
Information Systems Security (ISS)
The successful candidate will act as the ISSO for this comprehensive program, working closely with other security professionals to detect and mitigate threats, protect critical data sets, and assess system and network vulnerabilities. This role requires analyzing emerging threats and developing and implementing best practice methodologies for incident detection, reporting, and vulnerability remediation.
The Senior ISSO will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following core functions:
Provide support for implementing and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies.
Maintain the operational security posture for information systems and support the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in maintaining the appropriate operational IA posture for the system/program/enclave.
Analyze threats and develop and implement best practice methodologies for incident detection, reporting, and vulnerability remediation.
Develop, maintain, and update documentation for System Security Plans (SSPs) and Certification & Accreditation (C&A) in accordance with specified policies.
Administer the user identification and authentication mechanisms of the Information System.
Assist with the Configuration Management (CM) for security-relevant software, hardware, and firmware.
Provide comprehensive support for Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) management, including initiating responses, conducting system security scans, completing remediation, and extending patches/security updates.
Maintain records on all system components, including workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, and network switches, to include system upgrades.
Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing multiple types of information.
Security Clearance: Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph. The polygraph must have been conducted within the last five (5) years, ideally with the Maryland Intelligence Customer.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience as an ISSO working independently and/or on teams, maintaining secure information system operations in isolated, connected, and standalone environments.
At least 5 years of in-depth experience using tools to support IAVA management.
At least 5 years of in-depth experience using tools to support the preparation, maintenance, and management of SSPs and other security-related documentation.
Technical Knowledge:
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with several of the following: current security tools, hardware/software security implementation, communication protocols, and encryption techniques/tools.
In-depth experience completing security evaluations of software systems or architectures to ensure they meet security requirements.
Professional Skills:
Demonstrated experience performing day-to-day security operations of large, complicated information and information processing systems.
Must be a solutions-oriented team player with a high level of self-initiative and a commitment to adhering to best practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 12 years of relevant experience.
Extensive experience as an Information Systems Security Officer on large software development and integration programs.
DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level II or higher (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).
DoD 8570 compliance with IAM Level II or higher (e.g., CAP, CASP+ CE, CISSP).
