Our client is a St Louis-based manufacturer of architectural woodwork, providing high quality custom fixtures and furnishings to high profile customers globally. This is an on-site, in-person position.
 
We are seeking an experienced Estimator who will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for multiple large-scale woodworking projects. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reviews project drawings and documents to determine material, labor, and scope requirements, creating detailed itemized lists.
  • Requests and processes vendor/subcontractor quotes, handles RFIs, and organizes quotes within project folders.
  • Collaborates with clients, vendors, and designers to clarify project details, scope, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Develops and submits proposals, including scope of work, bid forms, pricing breakdowns, and value engineering options.
  • Maintains structured project folders and ensures all estimating data is properly stored for seamless project hand-off.
  • Attends scope review meetings and assists project managers by identifying cost changes, preparing change orders, and updating budgets.
  • Identifies general condition costs (travel, field expenses, permits, insurance, etc.) and ensures all project costs are accounted for before bid submission.
  • Works with project management, engineering, production, and installation teams to align estimates with execution plans.
  • Analyzes cost trends, recommends improvements to estimating procedures, and helps reduce variances between estimated and actual costs.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and customers to enhance project success and long-term partnerships.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Estimator
  • Experience within the millwork or woodworking industry is required
  • Experience in the store fixture, point of purchase (POP), or exhibit industry is preferred
  • Two-year degree, or higher, from a technical school or university, is required
