Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:Maintains acceptable accuracy in patient, quality assurance, proficiency and competency testing.- Meets department standard for correct patient or specimen identification- Meets department standard for error rate in testing or reporting patient or QC results- Consistently documents investigation and correct interpretation of QA failures or trends- Earns acceptable scores in proficiency testing and personnel competency testing- Maintains instrumentation for testing Uses clinical/theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret and report lab data- Reports lab data accurately and in a timely manner- Recognizes the relationship between lab data and clinical findings or expectation- Initiates investigation of problems and works to resolution- Interprets information from multiple sources Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution and hand-off to team members.- Complies with Pending Log procedure for tracking laboratory test status- Documents in the LIS all elements of the Notification Value Call procedure- Hands-off information to others according to the department procedure and chain of command- Adheres to WellStars Standards of Behavior in a consistent fashion- Takes personal responsibility for correction action on constructive criticism. Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost and completing testing.- Meets deadlines for turn-around times required by the department- Meets department-defined standards for organizational skills- Meets department productivity standards- Practices cost-efficient work processes that maintain high quality laboratory data.- Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures Maintains current knowledge and practice of WellStar Policies and procedures, including LIS.- Demonstrates adequate knowledge of laboratory regulatory compliance- Practices all WellStar and Laboratory Safety Standards- Participates in meetings, committees, task forces and project teams- Completes monthly, quarterly, or yearly educational requirements. Required Minimum Education:Associate's Degree Required ormeet qualifications as defined by CLIA and the State of Georgia for a laboratory technician. RequiredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- Med Lab Technician (AAB) or Med Lab Technician (AMT) or Med Lab Technician (ASCP)
