Real Estate Attorney (Litigation/Administrative)
MUST HAVE: Experience in handling complex cases related to affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Administrative Law Attorney specializing in real estate to join our team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in handling complex cases related to affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights. This position is open to candidates interested in either an Associate or a Non-Equity Partner role. We value dedication, expertise, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
· Represent clients in Administrative Law cases before DHCR, the NYS Division of Human Rights, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, and the Supreme Courts.
· Defend against allegations of rent overcharge, succession, harassment, and discrimination.
· Navigate deregulation issues related to substantial rehabilitation.
· Manage affordable housing matters independently, including knowledge of voucher programs.
· Conduct due diligence during property acquisitions.
· Provide advice on compliance under Regulatory Agreements with DHPR, DHCR, HFA, and HUD.
Requirements:
· 4 years of experience in Litigation and Administrative Law, with a strong focus on affordable housing and rent regulation.
· Proven track record of litigating cases before relevant legal bodies.
· Deep understanding of and experience with issues related to rent overcharge, succession, harassment, discrimination, and deregulation.
· Ability to handle affordable housing matters independently.
· Proficiency in due diligence and compliance advice regarding Regulatory Agreements.
· Portable business is advantageous but not essential.
Compensation:
· $160k - $350k Commensurate with experience level, years of practice, and portable book size
· % of Originations
· Annual Bonus
