The Medical Assistant supports patient care and daily clinic operations by performing both administrative and clinical duties. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach.
Greet and interview patients; verify medical history and reason for visit
Record vital signs (blood pressure, weight, temperature) and update patient charts
Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate documentation in the EMR
Prepare exam rooms and assist with minor procedures and physical exams
Administer injections and medications under provider supervision
Collect and process lab specimens; assist with phlebotomy and basic testing
Monitor patient condition and report changes or concerns to providers
Educate patients on procedures, medications, or test preparations
Schedule appointments, tests, and referrals; assist with prior authorizations
Support clinic operations by managing supplies and maintaining equipment
Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant work environment
Collaborate with providers and team members to deliver quality care
Respond to patient needs with professionalism, empathy, and urgency
Adapt quickly to changing situations and prioritize tasks effectively
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of (or actively enrolled in) an accredited Medical Assistant program
Administrative or clinical experience in a medical office preferred
Experience in family practice and/or urgent care is a plus
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic EMR systems
Able to multitask, stay organized, and work independently
Team-oriented, professional, and reliable
Willingness to learn new software and clinical tools
Physically able to meet the demands of a clinical setting (e.g., standing, lifting)
