Nurse Manager – Emergency Department

A leading regional healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to oversee operations within a fast-paced Emergency Department. This role provides 24/7 leadership responsibility for staff, patient care, and departmental performance.

About the Role

The Nurse Manager will support a culture of excellence by leading clinical teams, driving quality outcomes, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This position requires strong leadership, collaboration, and the ability to balance clinical, operational, and personnel needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support nursing and ancillary staff within the Emergency Department.

  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels, schedules, and workflow.

  • Promote a positive, collaborative work environment across teams.

  • Oversee staff hiring, onboarding, competencies, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation, safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in organizational initiatives focused on quality, patient experience, and employee engagement.

  • Conduct regular rounding with staff and patients to support communication and service excellence.

  • Manage departmental budgets, productivity, and operational efficiency.

  • Provide mentorship and development for emerging leaders and charge/lead nurses.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; active RN license required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or enrollment in a BSN program).

  • Five years of clinical nursing experience within a hospital setting.

  • At least two years of experience in an Emergency Department or related specialty.

  • Minimum one year of recent leadership or supervisory experience in acute care.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
