She Recruits is proud to partner with a leading power systems engineering firm in search of a Power Systems & Field Engineering Specialist to join their innovative and growing team in Greenville, South Carolina. This hybrid role blends engineering design with hands-on field testing, ideal for candidates who want to work on cutting-edge electrical systems while solving real-world technical challenges.

Role Overview:

As a Power Systems & Field Engineering Specialist, you'll work across the full project lifecycle—from design and modeling to field commissioning and troubleshooting. This is a dynamic, hands-on role requiring deep electrical engineering knowledge and the ability to adapt quickly in both office and field environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Engineering & Design:

  • Develop and analyze power distribution systems, including substations, transformers, relays, breakers, and switchgear

  • Perform system modeling and simulations to optimize performance and ensure regulatory compliance

    • Draft and review technical drawings, design specs, and project documentation

    • Conduct system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination

    • Collaborate with project engineers, field technicians, and clients to deliver tailored solutions

    • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in power systems engineering; field testing experience strongly preferred

    • Technical Skills:

      • Proficient in MATLAB, ETAP, or similar modeling software

      • Solid foundation in electrical theory, power electronics, and protection systems

      • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities

    • Soft Skills:

      • Excellent verbal and written communication

      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

      • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and on multidisciplinary teams

    • Certifications:

      • PE license required (or in progress)

      • Certifications in Power System Protection or related areas are a plus

    • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% for field service as needed

      Field Service & Commissioning:

      • Perform on-site testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment

      • Calibrate instruments and maintain testing tools to ensure accuracy and compliance

      • Identify system issues in the field and recommend corrective actions

      • Maintain accurate documentation and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders

      • Ensure all field activities meet safety standards and applicable regulations

      Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution (PE license eligibility in South Carolina required)
