Job Overview: Our client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our team in Au Gres, MI. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and be able to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food items to order, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience to the guests.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and organize ingredients, including cutting, chopping, and mixing, ensuring all items are ready for cooking according to restaurant standards.
  • Cooking to Order: Cook and prepare food items using grilling, sautéing, frying, and other cooking methods in line with specified recipes and quality standards.
  • Kitchen Equipment: Safely and effectively operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, and broilers to prepare food.
  • Station Maintenance: Maintain an organized and clean cooking station, ensuring everything is in place for an efficient workflow during service.
  • Sanitation: Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, and work surfaces throughout the shift to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Food Storage: Ensure proper storage of ingredients, maintain stock levels, and follow food safety regulations to prevent spoilage or cross-contamination.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including prep cooks, dishwashers, and chefs, to maintain a smooth and effective kitchen operation.
  • Quality Control: Follow recipes and portion controls closely to ensure consistency, taste, and presentation of every dish.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a line cook or similar kitchen role preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a busy, hot kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
