About the Role

Reports directly to the plant manager and is responsible for 8 direct reports.

As the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, you will play a key leadership role in our manufacturing operations, overseeing process development, product enhancement, machine optimization, labor standards, and cost reduction initiatives. You will be part of the decision-making team for this company’s Orangeburg, SC location. Your mission will be to drive continuous improvement, enhance machine utilization, and implement cost-effective solutions that maximize productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering team in developing innovative process improvements.
  • Optimize manufacturing efficiency through advanced process development and machine characterization.
  • Establish and refine labor standards to ensure productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Partner with internal teams and customers to implement high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Drive cost-reduction strategies while maintaining product excellence.
  • Oversee compliance with industry standards, including IEEE, UL, AEIC, NEC, ASTM, and ISO 9000.
  • Promote safety, environmental awareness, and regulatory compliance within the manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and SPC methodologies to enhance operational performance.
  • Represent the manufacturing division during plant tours and customer visits.

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with deep expertise in manufacturing engineering and a proven ability to drive process improvements. You should have: 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with at least 5-10 years in management. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent experience in medium/heavy manufacturing). Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to engage with staff at all levels. Experience in cable manufacturing is a plus / extrusion experience is a must!!  A systems-oriented mindset and a data-driven approach to decision-making. Proficiency in PC-based tools for analysis, reporting, and communication. Knowledge of metrology, thermoplastics, thermosets, and process improvement methodologies. A strong understanding of manufacturing safety, environmental regulations, and quality systems. A competitive, goal-oriented mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
