POSITION:  General Manager, Americas

JOB LOCATION:  Portland, ME

TRAVEL: Americas

We are seeking a strong leader to be General Manager of the Americas for a growing company in Portland, Maine! This VP/GM will provide overall leadership and supervision of the business across their locations in North, South, and Central America. They will own and provide direction on strategic initiatives and operating standards to drive business results. The right candidate is someone interested in being hands-on in their role while also owning strategic planning for the business. This General Manager will have a blended mix of experiences within commercial functions (sales, marketing, etc.), manufacturing operations, and Lean deployment.

·       Owning profit and loss while managing the overall strategy of the business within the Americas

·       Strategizing, planning, and directing operational activities within Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing

·       Partnering with Group President and the executive leadership team to establish current and long-term strategies; setting appropriate operating plans for the future development of the business

·       Coordinating cross-functionally with the product organization and administrative teams to ensure mutual success of business targets and aligning activities to the overall business strategy

·       Owning and ensuring visibility into business metrics and KPIs

·       Leading and driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by utilizing appropriate tools within the company’s Lean Business System

·       Applying Lean tools and structured problem-solving process to countermeasure business challenges

·       Contributing to the development of business proposals and representing the business to key customers

·       Leading talent-related strategy for designated organization and sub-orgs

·       Attracting and retaining top talent in partnership with Human Resources

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field

·       Advanced degree or Master’s in Business Administration a plus

·       Minimum 10 years of related leadership experience in progressively responsible roles including those in General Management, Sales, Marketing, and/or other commercial functions

·       Dedicated roles and experience with leading Manufacturing Operations strongly preferred

·       Experience with Profit & Loss management and business strategy development and ownership; experience owning revenue through gross margin required  

·       Demonstrated experience with Lean tools including Strategy Deployment, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Standard Work, FMEA, Problem Solving, Kanban, Visual Daily Management, 80/20

·       Experience implementing marketing and/or sales plans

·       Ability to travel within North, South, and Central America

·       Fluent in English; bilingual in Portuguese and/or Spanish a strong plus

·       Strong interpersonal, leadership, influencing, and communication skills

·       Ability to engage with all levels of the organization globally, including training of peers as well as executives

·       Strong business and financial acumen

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills; general computer skills and knowledge
