Job Title: Director of Pharmacy – Specialty Infusion Services

Position Summary:

The Director of Pharmacy for Specialty Infusion Services is responsible for the strategic, operational, and clinical oversight of the pharmacy department, with a focus on high-quality patient care in the home infusion and specialty pharmacy space. This role ensures compliance with federal and state pharmacy regulations, maintains accreditations, and leads initiatives to optimize medication management, improve patient outcomes, and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for all pharmacy operations including sterile and non-sterile compounding, dispensing, clinical services, and logistics.

  • Oversee compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, state and federal regulations, and accreditation bodies (e.g., ACHC, URAC, Joint Commission).

  • Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, and clinical protocols.

  • Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and case managers to support comprehensive patient care plans.

  • Monitor and manage inventory, purchasing, and supplier relationships for infusion medications, biologics, and specialty drugs.

  • Analyze clinical and financial data to ensure optimal therapy outcomes and cost-effective practices.

  • Ensure proper documentation, billing, and reimbursement in coordination with finance and payer teams.

  • Represent the pharmacy in internal meetings, audits, and external regulatory reviews.

  • Drive continuous improvement and staff education to maintain a culture of excellence and patient safety.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Tennessee.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years in pharmacy leadership, with at least 3 years in specialty infusion or home infusion pharmacy.

    • Proven experience in sterile compounding and regulatory compliance.

    • Familiarity with billing practices for specialty and infusion medications.
