Compensation: $130,000 - $145,000 base salary plus profit sharing

Position Overview:
Lead a dynamic team in the HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) sector as the Service Department Head. This pivotal role involves overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems in commercial settings. You will collaborate closely with technicians, dispatch staff, and other managers to ensure high customer satisfaction and the achievement of departmental objectives. As a senior representative, you will also engage with customers, vendors, and suppliers to communicate project statuses and requirements effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the HVAC Service Department, ensuring alignment with service demands and customer expectations.
- Recruit, train, and supervise HVAC technicians to maintain high standards of service quality and safety.
- Conduct regular evaluations and performance appraisals, setting improvement goals as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program for technicians on service techniques and safety procedures.
- Coordinate with dispatch to optimize scheduling based on skill levels and training needs.
- Maintain communication with vendors and manufacturers regarding product issues and warranties.
- Manage departmental budgets, monitor goals, and ensure profitability.
- Review work orders and invoices for accuracy to ensure efficient cash flow.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of service vehicles, ensuring they are well-stocked and in good condition.
- Promote and develop maintenance/service agreements and manage larger installation projects.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service and sales skills.
- Minimum of five years of experience in HVAC management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including the ability to interpret manuals and schematics.
- Strong leadership capabilities to foster team productivity.
- Excellent communication skills and conflict management abilities.
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and general software navigation.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-high school education in a related field from a college, trade school, or military service.
