Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager in the Design-Build department plays a key role in coordinating and managing information flow to support Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Operations teams throughout the construction project lifecycle. This position leads Project Engineers within Design-Build, driving the successful, safe, on-time, and on-budget completion of projects while upholding high-quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in interactions involving staff, projects, and proprietary information.
  • Establish and foster efficient, high-quality communication channels with all internal and external project partners.
  • Manage project documentation (Plans, Specifications, RFIs, Submittals, Meeting Minutes) from design and trade partners, ensuring alignment and accuracy.
  • Assemble trade contracts for Project Manager/Superintendent review.
  • Collaborate on-site with Project Manager and Superintendent to maintain and implement the safety plan (weekly safety meetings, pre-task planning, accident investigation).
  • Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to oversee and coordinate field operations (scheduling, testing, inspections, maintaining look-ahead schedules, daily reports, quality management).
  • Lead cost management, including identification of changes, estimating, and executing change orders.
  • Obtain and maintain relevant safety and project management certifications (OSHA 30, LEED, SWPPP).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in a construction environment.
