Job Overview

This position is responsible for building a strong reputation through high performance and effective execution of electrical maintenance functions. The Industrial Electrician's responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and servicing industrial electrical systems
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting industrial electrical issues
  • Running tests and completing reports
  • Updating and improving existing electrical systems
  • Repairing or replacing faulty electrical components

This role requires a strong focus on quality and safety, following all safety and company policies while actively participating in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

 

Shift: 6pm to 6:30 am working a 2-2-3. 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week.

 

Essential Functions

  • Electrical maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on industrial electrical systems, machinery, and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair industrial electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Installation: Install, upgrade, and modify industrial electrical systems, components, and equipment in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Safety compliance: Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other maintenance and production teams to coordinate electrical maintenance activities and address any electrical-related concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, installations, and inspections. Update equipment manuals and electrical drawings as needed.
  • Emergency response: Respond to electrical emergencies and breakdowns promptly, providing quick and effective solutions to minimize production disruptions.
  • Training and guidance: Provide guidance to junior technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance the overall skill level of the team.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements in electrical systems, suggesting and implementing upgrades as necessary.
  • Collaboration with management: Communicate regularly with management to report on the status of electrical systems, upcoming maintenance requirements, and any potential risks or improvements.
  • Equipment testing: Conduct regular testing and inspections of electrical equipment to ensure reliability and compliance with quality standards. 

Daily Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and scaffolds, and bend or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear job-specific PPE as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Current journeyman electrician license.
  • Relevant work experience as an electrician, particularly in an industrial food plant setting.

Preferred Skills

  • A strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate records, including electrical drawings and maintenance logs.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, troubleshooting electrical systems, and using various tools and equipment associated with industrial electrical work.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, sensors, actuators, and PLCs.
