Successful, profitable manufacturer is hiring a Process Engineer to oversee engineering activities at their manufacturing plant. The Process Engineer will report to a Technical Manager who has been with the company for 28 years.  Daily activities will include:
 
  • Identify and implement scrap reductions, efficiency improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work on automaton improvements, along with the Controls Engineer, including cameras, PLCs, SCADA system, etc. 
  • Evaluate quality issues by communicating with the plant floor to determine root cause analysis, utilizing formal problem solving techniques, such as 5WHY and fishbone analysis, and implementing corrective actions
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting as needed to eliminate downtime in the assigned manufacturing area
  • Work on multiple projects at a time and monitor project deadlines 
  • Improve KPIs and metrics for the assigned area 
  • Complete basic drawings in AutoCAD related to workstation and cell layout 
  • Participate in team projects as a participant or leader 
  • Create and improve procedure documentation and work instructions 
  • Consult with Controls Engineer to optimize automation and PLCs for production improvements 
  • Maintain status and documentation on all projects and reporting status on a regular basis 
  • Other duties as assigned by management
 
This position requires candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of the time. This is not a desk job, and there will be days when you do get dirty! Candidates should have strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, be able to build rapport with the hourly workforce, enjoy participating in team oriented projects, be able to take initiative and enjoy floor presence.

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing technologies, industrial technologies highly preferred)2. Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in a similar process engineering role3. Mechanical troubleshooting (examples include hydraulics, pneumatics, gears, motors, etc.)
4. Experience making continuous improvements to the manufacturing process, including scrap reductions, efficiency improvements, etc.  
5. General knowledge of PLCs6. Basic project management skills7. AutoCAD experience 8. Microsoft OfficeSkills that are preferred, BUT NOT required:1. Experience working in a heavy industrial environment 2. Capital equipment projects3.
