What You'll Be Doing: Core Responsibilities

As a key member of the engineering team, you will split your time (30-50%) on the floor, taking full ownership of process improvements and capital projects in our high-volume, process-oriented manufacturing plant. You will report to the Engineering Manager and drive results by:

  • Process Optimization: Overseeing manufacturing processes, troubleshooting equipment, and driving significant improvements in an assigned area.
  • Project Management: Managing the entire lifecycle for up to 2-4 projects simultaneously (continuous improvement, capital equipment, facilities, etc.), including creating project proposals and completing robust cost justifications.
  • Layout & Capacity: Developing and improving line layouts, managing line modifications, and determining process capacity for new manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration & Quality: Partnering with operations and quality teams to determine Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and resolve quality and operational issues.
  • Technical Support: Completing mechanical troubleshooting, assisting the maintenance team, developing Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs for new equipment, and communicating with OEMs.
  • Data & Metrics: Monitoring production metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • CI Focus: Actively participating in Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement events throughout the plant to achieve and improve production and engineering goals.
  • Documentation: Reading technical drawings and making necessary modifications using AutoCAD.

Who We're Looking For: Qualifications

We are looking for an individual who is eager to take ownership, support team members, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Required Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Technology).
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  3. Proven track record in overseeing process engineering functions (e.g., scrap reductions, efficiency improvements, line layouts).
  4. Experience overseeing project engineering functions related to equipment and/or facilities.
  5. Demonstrated mechanical troubleshooting capabilities 
  6. Basic project management experience, including overseeing project timelines.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Preferred Skills (But Not Required)

  • Experience in a related process-oriented manufacturing industry, such as food, beverage, chemical, consumer packaging, coatings, or refinery.
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics, and/or automation.
  • Budget oversight for projects.
  • Lean Certification or Six Sigma experience (Green Belt, etc.).
  • Experience working in 24/7/365 environments.
  • The ability to update AutoCAD drawings.
  • A general understanding of P&ID drawings
