Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Electrical Superintendent / Project Coordinator to oversee shipboard electrical projects from planning through execution. This role is critical in ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage crews, schedules, and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Estimating
  • Review specifications, drawings, and bid packages to develop accurate labor and material estimates.
  • Plan work sequences, schedules, and manpower requirements for electrical installation and repair projects.
  • Technical Oversight
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documents to ensure correct installation.
  • Provide technical direction and field leadership to electricians and subcontractors on the deck plate.
  • Ensure adherence to ABS, Coast Guard, and other applicable marine regulatory requirements.
  • Execution & Crew Management
  • Supervise and drive electrical crews to achieve production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress and adjust manpower or resources as needed to maintain the schedule.
  • Resolve technical or production issues that arise during installation.
  • Contract & Scope Control
  • Identify, document, and pursue contract scope changes or growth opportunities.
  • Communicate scope deviations to project management and assist in developing change orders.
  • Quality & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety procedures and ensure compliance with shipyard and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of completed work to confirm quality and functionality.

Core Requirements

  • Proven experience in marine electrical construction, ship repair, or shipbuilding.
  • Strong ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating and planning electrical work.
  • Hands-on leadership skills with the ability to motivate and push crews on the deck plate.
  • Working knowledge of ABS rules, USCG, and other applicable marine regulations.
  • Ability to identify and capture contract scope changes effectively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability in a fast-paced shipyard or project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–7 years in a marine electrical supervisory or project coordination role.
  • Technical degree or trade school certification in electrical systems preferred.
  • Experience with shipyard safety programs and Quality Control procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management software.
