We are partnering with a growing mobile marine service and repair organization in the Sarasota, FL area who is seeking a MARINE FIBERGLASS REPAIR TECHNICIAN responsible for repairing, maintaining, and fabricating fiberglass components for boats and marine vessels. As a Marine Fiberglass Repair Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and aesthetic appeal of clients' boats. Responsibilities:
  • Inspect boats for damage and determine the appropriate repair methods.
  • Prepare surfaces for fiberglass application by cleaning, sanding, and applying release agents.
  • Perform fiberglass repairs on boat hulls, decks, and other components.
  • Clean, repair, restore, refurbish, fabricate, or replace fiberglass panels and/or body components.
  • Apply fiberglass materials using various techniques such as hand lay-up, spray-up, or vacuum infusion.
  • Prepare new and used raw fiberglass body panels and components.
  • Remove damaged body parts and components to inspect and determine value.
  • Grind, sand, drill buff and/or prime new, refurbished, or repaired surfaces.
  • Perform gel coat/paint cosmetic repairs to marine and boating vessels.
  • Complete repair work within the established timeframes and industry standards.
  • Follow all procedures pertaining to safety and personal protection equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area.
  • Maintain inventory and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Marine Fiberglass Repair Technician or similar role (3+ years preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Marine/Automotive Body Shop is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of bottom repairs and painting procedures.
  • Proficiency in fiberglass repair techniques and methods.
  • Strong understanding of boat construction and marine materials.
  • Certification or training in fiberglass repair is a plus.
  • Ability to color match gel coat or willing to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to fiberglass work.
  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and clean driving record required; willing and able to travel to various customer locations to perform services.
  • Ability to work in Florida weather conditions, specifically high temperatures.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.
