We are partnering with a growing mobile marine service and repair organization in the Sarasota, FL area who is seeking a skilled Sewer / Seamstress to join their Canvas & Upholstery team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial sewing machines and a strong eye for detail. You’ll be responsible for sewing and assembling various marine textile products, such as boat covers, bimini tops, cushions, canvas enclosures, and more!Responsibilities:
  • Operate industrial sewing machines (single and double needle, serger, walking foot, etc.)
  • Read and follow patterns, templates, and work instructions accurately
  • Measure, cut, and assemble fabric and other materials
  • Sew marine-grade fabrics including vinyl, canvas, Sunbrella, Isinglass, and upholstery materials
  • Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure proper fit and durability
  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate production issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Proven sewing experience (5+ years); marine, upholstery, or industrial sewing a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret patterns, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Comfortable operating heavy-duty sewing equipment
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Able to lift and maneuver materials with or without assistance
  • Previous experience sewing marine or outdoor textile products highly preferred
  • Familiarity with marine materials like Sunbrella, Strataglass, Isinglass, and foam-backed vinyl beneficial, but not required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
