Fabrication Estimator

Location: Texas City, TX 
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Fabrication Operations Manager

About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established Petrochemical fabrication and machining company specializing in high-pressure equipment, ASME Code vessels, piping systems, process skids, and specialty alloy fabrication. They also operate a full-service machining division offering both manual and CNC capabilities for custom fabricated pieces in the oil and gas market.

They are seeking an experienced Fabrication Estimator to join their South Houston team and play a key role in developing accurate, competitive bids and proposals for complex fabrication projects.

Fabrication Estimator Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates using standard costs, previous project data, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.

  • Develop comprehensive technical proposals, including sales pricing, delivery timelines, freight, and supporting documentation.

  • Collaborate with fabrication and machining operations, engineering, vendors, and account managers throughout the estimating and proposal process.

  • Build and input Bills of Material (BOM) and Methods of Manufacture (MOM), including labor hour estimates, into the ERP system.

  • Occasionally visit customer sites to obtain project details, measurements, or clarify scope of supply.

Fabrication Estimator Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of fabrication estimating experience in the Petrochemical industry — including ASME Code Vessels, Piping, Skids, and General Fabrication.

  • Strong ability to interpret complex fabrication drawings and Petrochemical customer specifications.

  • Familiarity with commercial and freight terms related to the industry.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Understanding of welding processes and NDE inspection methods.

  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
