Directional Drill Operator/Locator

We are searching for a Directional Drill Operator and a Directional Drill Locator for a leading telecommunications service provider. They are a full-service telecom construction and maintenance services company for the largest telecommunications providers in the region. Services cover aerial and underground construction and maintenance, as well as fiber splicing, MDU installation, and vacuum excavation. Responsibilities:
  • Safely sets up work-zone.
  • Safely operates directional drills on jobsite including daily calibration of locator and drill head.
  • Safely potholes, windows, and identifies all utilities in the construction area and bore path.
  • Safely and correctly connect/stub-up conduit and wire.
  • Dig pits, trenches or potholes as directed by job plan including windows when crossing utilities.
  • Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite.
  • Demonstrates job skill, procedures, and techniques to crew members.
  • Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • CATV experience
  • Must be able to pass background check, drug screen, and prove a good driving record
  • Possess and maintain a current CDL
  • Able to meet physical demands: lift and/or pull 50 pounds often daily
  • Able to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Must be willing to train
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge and understanding of safety systems and strike alerts, loading, unloading and transport procedures for the drill, drilling fluids and proper mixing procedures for ground conditions, proper daily maintenance of the drill with ability to perform maintenance, support equipment operation, digging equipment, vacuum-units and reel trailers.
