Test Cell Technician

 The Test Cell Technician is an integral part of our research and development facility, responsible for supporting testing and validation processes for various systems and components. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a commitment to maintaining the accuracy and reliability of test results. Test Cell Technicians collaborate closely with the build team, ensuring seamless coordination of responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities:

  1. Test Cell Setup and Execution:
    • Prepare and configure test cells according to specified parameters and project requirements.
    • Execute testing procedures outlined in project specifications, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards.
  2. Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
    • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and install testing equipment, ensuring proper documentation of all activities.
    • Assemble instrumentation and ancillaries on test engines and modify dynamometer test setups as needed.
  3. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect data during testing activities, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
    • Assist Test and Design Engineers in the execution of testing plans and support test data collection, storage, and issuance of test reports.
  4. Mechanical and Electrical Support:
    • Debug mechanical, electrical, and software problems encountered during testing activities.
    • Fabricate and/or assemble test rigs and tooling for engine components as required.

 Overlap Responsibilities with Engine Build Team:

  • Assemble test engines, including instrumentation and inspections, and maintain databases of component inventory and engine build logs.
  • Finish and inspect engine components using hand and/or machine tools, and perform tear down and post-test inspections.

 Additional Responsibilities:

  • Follow company policies regarding data storage and communication platforms.
  • Communicate professionally with teammates to resolve technical issues and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and "can-do" attitude, particularly during challenges inherent in the R&D process.
  • Continuously improve the test lab environment by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for tests and demonstrations.
  • Assist with computer/IT tasks, procurement/purchasing tasks, and shop/building maintenance duties as needed.
  • Employ a value-based approach in recommending purchases and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide input to company procedures and know-how for enhanced efficiency.

 Qualifications:

  1. Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Previous experience in a testing environment or related field is preferred.
    • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and assembly skills.

 Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with testing equipment and procedures.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with instrumentation and calibration procedures is advantageous.
