Job Posting – Equipment Lube Technician

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Equipment Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles in the field, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability. This role is mobile, proactive, and critical to extending the life of our assets. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation of mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and a sense of ownership to every jobsite. This technician will support our equipment team in minimizing downtime and optimizing field performance.

OBJECTIVES

·         Perform scheduled field preventative maintenance (PMs) on equipment and trucks including changing oil changes, filters, fluids, and grease.

·         Maintain 100% compliance with OEM PM schedules and RL Siteworx service intervals.

·         Ensure 98%+ equipment availability by preventing breakdowns through timely service.

·         Track and record all service activities using digital service logs and forms.

·         Report, to the Equipment Manager, any abnormal wear, leaks, or damage found during inspections..

·         Minimize downtime by coordinating with foremen to service equipment with minimal to no negative impact to jobsite production.

·         Maintain a clean and fully stocked lube truck ready for daily dispatch.

·         Proactively communicate delays, part shortages, or rescheduling needs.

·         Support after-hours and weekend emergency service calls when needed.

·         Uphold RL Siteworx standards of quality, safety, and communication at all times.

·         Protect equipment value by performing work cleanly, accurately, and to OEM standards.

·         Build positive working relationships with mechanics, operators, and site leads.

 

COMPETENCIES

·         Strong mechanical aptitude

·         Experience with diesel engine service, hydraulics, and DEF systems

·         Effective time management and self-direction in the field

·         Commitment to clean, detailed, and efficient work

·         Strong communication and documentation habits

·         Basic computer or mobile device skills for digital PM logs

·         Ability to identify potential issues before failure occurs

·         Team-first attitude with a solution-oriented mindset

·         Knowledge of oil sampling, filter crossovers, and fleet standardization

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

·         High School Diploma or GED required

·         Minimum 2 years of field service or lube technician experience in construction or heavy equipment

·         Experience with CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, and similar fleet equipment preferred

·         Familiarity with Tenna or other fleet management platforms is a plus

·         Valid Texas Driver’s License (Class B CDL preferred but not required)

·         Must pass a DOT physical and company drug screen

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·         Ability to lift 75+ lbs, crawl under/around equipment, and work in tight or elevated areas

·         Comfortable working in outdoor environments, including extreme heat, rain, or cold

·         Standing, kneeling, squatting, and climbing ladders multiple times per shift

·         Capable of handling oil drums, tools, hoses, and filters independently

·         Must be able to work flexible hours, early mornings, and occasional weekends

 

COMPENSATION

Competitive base salary from $60,000 to $75,000 per year
