OBJECTIVES• Perform detailed earthwork takeoffs using various CAD software to ensure accuratequantifications.• Use CAD software to create and modify .dwg files and cross-sections related toelevational changes and earthwork scope.• Work closely with estimators to ensure takeoffs align with project goals and constraints.• Look for opportunities to optimize costs without compromising the quality or integrity ofthe project through value engineering.• Strive to improve their takeoff processes by incorporating feedback, adopting newtechnologies, and staying updated with industry trends.• Participate, support, and improve the feedback loop within the estimating departmentand the company.
COMPETENCIES• Earthwork Takeoff: Proficient in fundamental geometry, volumes, areas, and quantitiesfor earthwork projects, including excavation, grading, and backfill, overlays,comparisons, and ad-hoc investigation.• CAD Proficiency: Skilled in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, AGTEK, Civil 3D, Insight,Carlson suite, or MicroStation for drafting and modeling project plans related toearthwork.• Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to accurately interpret construction blueprints, plans,and specifications to create detailed takeoff sheets.• Data Analysis: Capable of analyzing topographic data and efficiently communicating thetakeoff data associated with these documents.• Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers, projectmanagers, and construction teams.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE• High school diploma or equivalent.• Some college education preferred but not required.• Must possess a valid/active driver’s license and a functioning vehicle.• Not less than 4 years’ experience in roles such as Earthwork Estimator, CAD Technician,or Civil Engineering Assistant, where earthwork takeoff and CAD usage were primaryresponsibilities.• Worked on a variety of construction projects, from residential developments to largescale infrastructure projects, with a focus on accurate earthwork estimation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.• This position will not require travel.
