We are currently seeking a Director, Procurement, Resins, Rigid Plastic Packaging and Ingredients, for a highly visible, strategic role reporting directly to the VP of Procurement!

POSITION IMPACT: The Director will lead procurement efforts and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to shape, refine, and execute sourcing strategies across multiple business units using best-in-class procurement processes and tools. May potentially manage 1-2 others.
A DAY IN THE LIFE

Provide mentorship and leadership to a team of procurement professionals overseeing virgin resins (PET & HDPE), recycled PET, rigid plastic packaging (bottles, closures), and key ingredients such as flavors, minerals, and sweeteners.

Build and execute a comprehensive category strategy across all business units, including Canadian operations.

Lead RFI/RFP initiatives and drive competitive sourcing events across all assigned categories.

Partner with internal stakeholders and Legal to negotiate high-impact agreements, contracts, and SOWs.

Develop and champion a sustainable sourcing strategy that supports long-term business continuity and cost efficiency.

Ensure a resilient supply network that supports uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Build and maintain a best in class vendor management and rationalization program.

Identify and deliver cost-savings initiatives while reducing total cost of ownership.

Strengthen supplier relationships and unlock incremental value.

Serve as a trusted partner to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Uphold corporate procurement principles, policies, and compliance standards.
LOCATION: The Director of Procurement will work at our client’s headquarters in Stamford, CT. Relocation assistance is available for strong candidates currently in the USA.
IDEAL PROFILE

7+ years of procurement experience with deep expertise in direct materials and plastic packaging (PET, plastics, resins) managing $100M–$300M in spend.

Proven experience leading or managing people in a procurement environment.

Strong commercial acumen and proficiency in strategic category management.

Exceptional negotiation skills with experience leading complex, high-value negotiations and enforcing robust service levels.

Ability to independently research and analyze market, supplier, and industry dynamics.

Experience working with SAP is required.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.

Demonstrated success operating within complex, matrixed organizations and supporting simultaneous sourcing initiatives.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
