Litigation Associate (Alternative Track)

Location: Dallas, Texas

Schedule: Hybrid (3/2) with billable expectation approximating 1,700-1,850 hours annually.

Remuneration: Undisclosed, figure around $130,000 to $180,000 base salary.

 

Esteemed National Law Firm:

Dominant national law practice with offices in the DFW area are seeking support to their bolstering practice in litigation for high-end clients and have designated an alternative track role for an aspiring litigator. This full-time role comes without the pressure of immense annual billable requirements, but instead presents a structured professional opportunity for legal practitioners desiring a predictable work regimen, divergent from the conventional partnership trajectory. The selected candidate shall contribute materially to the litigation department, undertaking the management of diverse caseloads and furnishing essential support throughout the various phases of the litigation process.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Comprehensive legal research and analytical tasks shall be conducted, culminating in the preparation of briefs, summary judgements, deposition and cross-examination as you will be gaining extensive courtroom exposure. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Drafting timely response to discovery, encompassing interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admission.
  • Meticulous and astute document review, and impeccable organization of documentation and case files with efficiency and integrity.
  • At first, will work in collaboration with senior counsel and paralegal staff in advancement of clients’ interest as you learn how to become independent to the point of taking on clients and cases end-to-end
  • Articulate and impressively collegiate oral argument skill, while maintaining top-notch client service and build lasting relationships.
  • Litigation support and intensive trial preparation, including the mock debate, questioning of witness's claims
  • Forensically investigating opposing party's arguments in defense of and for the firms' clients' best interests

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited by the American Bar Association with active membership in the State Bar of Texas in good standing
  • Demonstrable academic distinction is required, as evidenced by participation in moot court competitions, contributions to law journal publications, engagement in leadership capacities, or completion of federal clerkships.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of litigation experience, with 2nd or 1st chair experience as a huge plus.
  • Prior experience in civil defense litigation, particularly pertaining to matters of personal injury, negligence, professional malfeasance, premises liability, and other claims associated with insurance defense is preferred, yet the firm will look at any compassionate litigation attorneys.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Substantiated experience in the field of litigation is requisite, with a preference for demonstrated proficiency in the defense of insurance claims on behalf of carriers, corporate entities, and other bespoke clientele within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
  • Exemplary oral advocacy skills are imperative, complemented by a proven capacity for the production of superior legal filings that exhibit meticulous attention to detail, sophisticated legal analysis, and exhaustive research of case precedents and forensic investigations.
  • Robust organizational proficiencies are indispensable, ensuring preparedness throughout litigation proceedings and during trial preparation, alongside an acute awareness of the exigency associated with managing deadlines while overseeing a substantial caseload requiring litigation support.
  • The capacity for autonomous work, coupled with a propensity for collaborative engagement with professional peers, is expected. Furthermore, an embrace of innovative methodologies in documentation, discovery, and legal defense, leveraging the latest available technological advancements, which shall be supported by the firm, is highly valued.
