Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Summary:The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating maintenance department activities to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of maintenance tasks. This role collaborates closely with job planners to anticipate and schedule future work while continuously seeking improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures all tasks align with safety, quality, service, and profitability objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety, ensuring adherence to procedures such as lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment use, proper lifting techniques, tow motor safety, fall protection, and confined space entry. Maintain proper documentation of safety measures.

  • Train and mentor new and existing employees in troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.

  • Assign daily preventive maintenance tasks to team members and maintain an up-to-date PM database.

  • Order necessary repair parts to maintain equipment functionality.

  • Coordinate equipment handoff to QA for inspection following repairs.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and enforce all food safety and quality procedures, including SQF/GMP policies.

  • Inspect machinery and equipment for optimal performance and utilization.

  • Monitor compliance with operational standards and best practices.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure proper documentation of activities.

  • Investigate accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Provide counseling and administer disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Foster a positive work environment and maintain high team morale.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage employees in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Train, plan, assign, and direct work while evaluating performance and recognizing achievements.

  • Address employee concerns, mediate disputes, and resolve problems to maintain a productive work environment.

Qualifications:To successfully perform this role, an individual must demonstrate proficiency in GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, and quality assurance. The candidate should possess strong leadership, decision-making, change management, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to align team performance with company objectives.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and four years of related experience/training.

  • Strong technical, engineering, and quality knowledge related to plant operations and equipment.

  • Ability to liaise with Engineering and equipment manufacturers for technical support.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and interaction with employees and management.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficiency in basic mathematical operations, including fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex challenges.

  • Ability to interpret and apply various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift.

  • Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment.
