Job Description

 

The Quality Manager has direct responsibility for managing all aspects of Quality Assurance and Control to ensure high-quality products that meet customer expectations and comply with USDA, FDA regulations, and SQF standards (SQF-certified facilities only). This role is responsible for implementing all quality policies, programs, and procedures, while effectively managing and executing multiple projects and assignments.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure food safety across all stages, from ingredient receipt through production and shipment, maintaining compliance with HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Investigate and resolve root causes of food safety deficiencies promptly. Develop predictive measures to eliminate risks and maintain food safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary contact for USDA and FDA personnel, ensuring regulatory documentation is organized, accurate, and accessible. Obtain necessary plant requirements and label approvals.
  • Maintain constant audit readiness to achieve passing scores on customer, third-party, and regulatory audits. Ensure corrective actions for audit deficiencies are completed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee food quality standards, including finished product attributes. Establish targets and ranges that account for process capability.
  • Manage customer complaints by identifying root causes and resolving issues within established policy timeframes.
  • Collect and present accurate, complete data to support food safety and quality decisions. Ensure laboratory data is stored in the prescribed database. Where applicable, establish routine microbiological testing and train personnel for consistent, accurate results.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of GMPs, QA procedures, SSOPs, and food safety policies, programs, and practices to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
