Project Engineer

About the Role:Join a dynamic engineering team where you’ll lead and coordinate a wide range of impactful projects—from conception to completion. You'll work closely with cross-functional colleagues, guide teams, ensure timely execution, and deliver quality outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct complex engineering initiatives.

  • Lead project teams: set schedules, assign tasks, communicate progress, troubleshoot, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.

  • Design and specify software, hardware, or integrated systems, and develop testing protocols.

  • Evaluate feasibility and soundness of engineering tests, equipment, and proposed solutions.

  • Supervise and support engineers, designers, and technicians during project execution.

  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to resolve questions, plan work, and move projects forward.

  • Oversee lab testing and prototype development.

  • Manage contractor efforts for new builds or facility modifications, ensuring projects stay on time, within budget, and aligned with specifications.

  • Lead design and layout efforts for special projects and drive capital planning initiatives.

  • Solicit competitive bids for upcoming work and maintain proper records.

  • Attend key project meetings and foster strong communication between maintenance, purchasing, production, storeroom, and other departments.

  • Take on additional responsibilities and diverse engineering tasks as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Hands-on experience in construction, mechanical contract work, or building trades.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheets and drafting software.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and effectively.

  • Project Management: Excellent organizational skills and experience managing multiple priorities.

  • Leadership & Decision-Making: Able to lead teams independently, resolve conflicts, and adapt quickly to change.

  • Personal Attributes: Integrity, fairness, emotional intelligence, and a passion for continuous improvement.

  • Special Qualifications (a plus):

    • Bilingual abilities

    • Statistical knowledge at a basic level

    • Six Sigma certification (desired)

  • Availability: Willingness to work assigned schedule, including occasional weekends if required.
