Summary/Objective
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ranging from $2M to $40M, analyzing contract requirements, and guiding junior estimators. Requires expertise in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
Essential Functions
- Analyze bid documents and construction plans.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings.
- Determine project scope and required disciplines.
- Identify subcontractor roles and DBE participation to achieve project objectives.
- Highlight constructability challenges and value engineering possibilities.
- Manage pre-bid activities and respond to owner inquiries.
- Develop and review project estimates and schedules ($2M-$40M).
- Mentor and supervise junior estimators.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages.
**Required Education and Experience**
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field (preferred).
- 4-10 years of experience in civil construction estimating.
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation specifications.
- Proficiency with HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Extensive experience in heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction.
- Previous work with NCDOT or SCDOT.
