MUST HAVE:

  • Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum 12 years of modeling and drainage design experience, OR 10 years with a Master’s degree.
  • Proficiency with Microstation, OpenRoads Drainage, GEOPAK Drainage, and Storm and Sanitary software.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and construction of storm drain improvement systems, including culverts, bridges, and/or channel modifications.
  • Familiarity with 1D and 2D modeling to assess flood conditions and propose mitigation measures.
  • Project resume showcasing relevant municipal experience (must be ready to submit).
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • FEMA project experience.
  • Local project experience with City of Austin, Travis County, Bexar County, City of San Antonio, SAWS, and the San Antonio River Authority.
  • TxDOT pre-certifications.

Compensation: $145,000+ (commensurate with experience).Employment Type / Standard Operating Hours: Full-time Hybrid (3 days WFH, 2 days on-site).

Role Overview

A civil engineering firm is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager for immediate hire for its Austin, TX office. This position involves leading Water Resources teams and utilizing technical abilities to plan, analyze, and design projects for municipalities across Central Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.

Responsibilities include technical work and project management for stormwater and watershed management projects, stream restoration projects, and roadway drainage design projects. Candidates must coordinate multiple projects, work effectively with diverse teams, and oversee technical and financial project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and lead engineers and technical staff to meet project goals within allocated resources.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost opinions, schedules, and permits for project designs.
  • Coordinate design drawings with the CAD team.
  • Work with the marketing team to pursue opportunities, prepare technical content for proposals, and create marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with the financial team for fee proposals, project forecasting, and timely invoicing.
  • Conduct regular project update meetings with team members.
  • Convey project results effectively in technical documents, interviews, and presentations.
  • Perform light travel (primarily between Austin and San Antonio) as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Licensed Texas PE for at least 3 years.
  • Proven leadership experience as a design engineering lead or project manager.
  • Expertise in the design and construction of stormwater treatment facilities and storm drain improvement systems.
  • Familiarity with the FEMA Flood Insurance Mapping process and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with project teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with solving flood, erosion, and water quality issues using innovative technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Local project experience with Central Texas municipalities and agencies.
  • Experience with FEMA projects.
  • TxDOT pre-certifications.
