The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic leadership roleresponsible for managing the financial operations of the company withinthe Real Estate firm in the architecture, engineering, and consulting (AEC) industry. Architect Engineering and Construction

 

Qualifications

This includes overseeing daily banking activities, such as monitoring onlinebanking for recent transactions, approving positive pays, managing cashflow, and coordinating with the CEO on bank activity. The CFO reviewsaccounting-related emails, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.Semi-monthly, the CFO reviews payroll processes, ensuring accuracy inpayroll journals, resolving tax filing issues, and addressing employeeinquiries. Monthly, the CFO prepares bank reconciliations, managesinternational payroll, and generates financial reports, analyzing earnedrevenues, billings, and project unbilled balances. The role involvesposting various financial entries, preparing income statements, andupdating financial dashboards.Quarterly, the CFO conducts financial review meetings with managers,analyzing actual results, forecasts, and backlog data. This role alsomanages quarterly tax filings, including commercial rent, sales and use,corporate, business, and foreign VAT taxes. Annually, the CFO updatescompensation files, coordinates audits, prepares tax returns, andadministers the 401(k) plan, ensuring compliance and managing relatedaudits.The CFO is also responsible for leading weekly financial discussionswith the CEO, managing accounts receivable collections, approvingpurchase orders, and reviewing vendor agreements. Additionally, the CFOserves as the system administrator for the accounting software,overseeing system upgrades and resolving technical issues. The roleinvolves managing special financial projects as needed. Managementresponsibilities also include oversight of a small team of accountingprofessionals responsible for day-to-day invoicing, collections,preparation of billing reports, accounts payable, etc. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting,finance, or a related field, with a CPA or MBA preferred. They shouldhave at least 10 years of experience in finance, including 5 years in asenior financial leadership role, preferably within the AEC industry(Architect, Engineering and Construction). The candidate should possessstrong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accountingstandards relevant to the industry, along with excellent analytical,strategic planning, and communication skills. Proficiency in accountingsystems, particularly Deltek Vantagepoint, Paylocity, or similarplatforms, is preferred.
