Pay: $24.04 - $36.06 per hour

Note: This position requires employees to be on-site five days a week at our client’s Overland Park, KS office.

Note: The qualified candidate for this position must have at least 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience (medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, or wrongful death preferred).

Note: Our client is open to both full-time and contract paralegals, with strong potential for a contract role to convert to a permanent position. Hours are 8-5 or 9-6 with an hour lunch.

Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys handling litigation defense matters
  • Manage case files from start to finish, including organization, deadlines, and billing
  • Review and analyze medical records and other evidence
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries of regulations, case law, and depositions
  • Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
  • Assist with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits and witness coordination
  • Maintain direct communication with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks such as calendaring and document filing

Qualifications

  • At least 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience required (medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, wrongful death)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; paralegal certificate a plus
  • Strong knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and case management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
