Your role with the company:

The Job Change Supervisor reports to the Forming Manager and leads a key department responsible for efficient changeovers from one product run to the next. This position ensures smooth transitions, reduced downtime, and consistent product quality in a union environment.  This is a Monday – Friday day position and from time to time, extra coverage will be necessary depending on the needs of the department.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Supervise and direct 7 hourly employees in the Job Change Department.
  • Lead job change actions on multiple forming machines, ensuring efficient transitions from “good glass to good glass.”
  • Apply SMED philosophies to reduce downtime by shifting activities from online to offline where possible.
  • Provide technical support during changeovers and assist in resolving forming issues to maintain quality standards.
  • Plan and prepare for upcoming job changes, coordinating with plant operations.
  • Communicate project updates and priorities clearly to management and staff.
  • Promote teamwork, conflict resolution, and adaptability in a unionized environment.

 

Background profile:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline strongly desired.   Strong experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in glass forming and job change activities.  Hands-on.
  • Experience with quality systems and Lean principles desirable.  SMED a plus.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and guide teams in a union plant.
  • Effective leader and communicator with proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
