ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY - PROPERTY

INSURANCE COVERAGE PRACTICE

Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Insurance Coverage Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney who is an exceptional writer, takes ownership of their work, and is eager to handle complex insurance coverage matters involving property, time element, CGL, and bad faith claims. The team represents both domestic and international insurers and offers hands-on, sophisticated work in a collaborative environment.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active Bar Admission in Georgia, in good standing, or willingness to obtain timely admission
  • 2–3 years of substantive first-party and/or third-party insurance coverage experience
  • Experience analyzing complex insurance policies, particularly first- and third-party policies
  • Ability to draft coverage opinions, analyze policies, and provide strategic recommendations
  • Familiarity with disputes involving property, bad faith claims, time element, and CGL coverage
  • Litigation experience strongly preferred, including some or all of the following:
    • Drafting of pleadings, motions, briefs, other litigation documents
    • Conducting discovery
    • Taking and defending depositions
    • Document review
    • Correspondence with opposing counsel, experts/consultants, clients, the court
    • Participation in hearings and mediations
  • Exceptional legal writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, as well as problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex litigation matters and deadlines with minimal oversight
  • Willingness to travel as needed
 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in handling disputes related to property, bad faith claims, time element, and CGL coverage
  • Analyze first- and third-party insurance policies and prepare detailed coverage opinions
  • Provide strategic coverage advice to insurers
  • Take examinations under oath
  • Support federal and state coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions
  • Conduct legal research using WestlawLexis, and other research tools
  • Draft litigation documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and mediation statements
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests and subpoenas
  • Review and manage document productions from parties and third parties
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend hearingsmediations, and other litigation proceedings
  • Correspond with opposing counsel, clients, courts, and consultants
  • Delegate work effectively and manage the work of more junior associates and paralegals
  • Manage significant caseload with independence, organization, and strategic judgment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: Expected annual base salary range of $130,000-$175,000, as determined by experience and market factors
