RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll serve as a critical link between engineering and manufacturing—working in the Die design and development process, driving process improvements, supporting new product trials and launches, and helping ensure that production hits world-class standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Die & Process Development

    • Be involved in the Die deisgns and improvments for customers and new products.
    • Lead trials for new extrusion dies and sizers.

    • Build repeatable, production-ready processes.

    • Collaborate with Engineering to finalize SOPs.

  • Performance & Troubleshooting

    • Monitor production metrics (speed, scrap, efficiency) and provide real-time support.

    • Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement using Lean principles.

    • Work to determine root cause analysys of process issues with a coordinated effort of all department team leaders. 
  • Tooling & Equipment Management

    • Use Limble to manage die repairs, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.

    • Evaluate die inventory  insuring that equipment is production-ready by conducting audits and insuring proper calibration of equipment to meet Die specifications. 

  • Cross-Functional Impact

    • Partner with Quality, Sales, Maintenance, and Production teams to meet customer demands and streamline operations.

    • Provide support on process setups and approvals for difficult parts.

 

NEEDED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 10+ years of experience in plastic injection manufacturing engineering.

  • Die design experience or direct involvement in tooling design/improvement—this role will be actively involved in new die development and optimization

  • A strong background in root cause analysis, coordinating with Operators, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and the Machine Shop to solve process issues

  • Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, tooling innovation, and process redesign to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and optimize labor utilization

  • Ability to support and guide operators during complex setups and approve first-off parts before full production release

  • A track record of identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives within a manufacturing setting

  • Experience minimizing MMDRs, RMAs, and customer complaints through proactive problem-solving and team collaboration

  • Excellent cross-functional coordination skills to align with Sales and Production Control for timely sample fulfillment and new process evaluations

  • Strong sense of ownership in maintaining tooling—performing regular equipment/tool audits and ensuring calibration standards are met
