Position Overview:
The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of both hardware and software systems for DCS and PLC equipment supporting new installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a hands-on engineer with deep technical expertise in process control systems, the ability to manage multiple projects independently, and strong collaboration skills across engineering, production, and maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement DCS/PLC hardware and software for new projects and system upgrades.

  • Develop and program control logic, HMI graphics, and process automation solutions that drive operational efficiency and reliability.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Foxboro DCS/PLC systems to ensure optimal performance across all plant operations.

  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams for system issues, configuration updates, and process optimization.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional groups, including engineering, electrical/controls, production management, and maintenance leadership.

  • Independently manage small to medium-scale automation and control projects from concept to implementation.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing safety, uptime, and process performance.

  • Participate in on-call and off-hour support rotations as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree Preferred in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field or degree with related experience.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with DCS/PLC systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Foxboro DCS and/or Rockwell Automation PLCs (preferred).

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing process control software for industrial automation systems.

  • Working knowledge of Foxboro, Rockwell, Siemens automation systems, and AspenTech software is highly desirable.

  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Windows environments and control system tools.

  • Ability to plan, execute, and deliver small to medium-sized automation projects with minimal supervision.
