Primary Objectives and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for the company's commercial property portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor the commercial property accounting team.
  • Oversee and manage the Accounting Assistant’s desk including commercial ACH and lockbox deposits, late fees, check deposits, etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements for both internal operations and external GAAP reporting.
  • Perform detailed review of key financial statement activity.
  • Support VP Accounting and Controller on consolidated and stand-alone audit requests.
  • Review and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual lender and joint venture reporting packages.
  • Prepare and maintain property tax tracking schedules and manage payment process.
  • Collaborate with the Lease Administration Manager to manage property accountant’s responsibilities and prioritization.
  • Communicate month-end tasks and reporting with operations team.
  • Enforce existing accounting policies and procedures as well as roll out any new policies as needed.
  • Work with VP Accounting on IT system rollouts and enhancements.
  • Seek continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate member capital statements and tax packages.
 
Desired Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university majoring in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
  • Real Estate experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working on financial audits a plus.
  • Must possess in-depth understanding of financial statements and GAAP accounting.
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
