THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:Reporting directly to the CFO, the Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects. The role requires collaboration with project managers to monitor performance, analyze data, and provide insights that support decision-making. Key responsibilities include:

  • Transitioning projects from preconstruction to operations at contract award.
  • Reviewing and approving integrations between ERP and Project Management systems.
  • Proactively reviewing budgets to identify errors, budget overruns, and opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Setting up and controlling project-related credit card expenses.
  • Charging company vehicles, equipment, and indirect overhead against jobs as appropriate.
  • Assessing job cost completeness monthly and resolving missing job charges with Accounts Payable and the Project Manager.
  • Reviewing billings with the Project Manager before submission to the owner and accounting.
  • Establishing and tracking KPIs around profitability, project gain/fade, contingency usage, and project schedule.
  • Closing out the job with the operations team.

 

BACKGROUND PROFILE:

  • Minimum 5 years in a related role.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
  • Experience with advanced functions in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
