Our client in Plymouth Meeting Pa., is looking for a top notch Staff Accountant to join their team.  This is an in office, Direct Hire position with salary up to 78k and excellent benefits, which are listed at the bottom of the job description. 

This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in Taft-Hartley or multi-employer benefit plans who thrives in a collaborative, fast paced, compliance-focused environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Precision & Deadlines: Maintain a high level of accuracy while managing multiple priorities and meeting strict regulatory and reporting deadlines.

Transaction Oversight: Record, verify, and post financial transactions related to employee and employer contributions, benefit disbursements, and administrative expenses.

Journal Entries & Fund Allocations: Prepare and document journal entries for assets (including investments), liabilities, revenues, and expenses.

General Ledger maintenance: Maintain the general ledger by posting entries, preparing trial balances, and ensuring fund-level integrity across all accounts.

Bank & Cash Management: Reconcile bank statements, monitor daily cash flow, and ensure timely deposits and disbursements for benefit payments and administrative operations.

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including fund-specific balance sheets and income statements. Support reporting to Boards of Trustees and regulatory agencies.

Thorough Knowledge of the accounting cycle

  Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the full accounting cycle—from journal entries and month-end close to financial reporting

Audit & Compliance: Support Assist with annual audits and regulatory filings (e.g., Form 5500). Provide schedules, documentation, and analysis to external auditors and consultants.

Legal & Fiduciary Compliance: Ensure accounting practices comply with ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations. Maintain documentation to support fiduciary oversight and transparency.

Data Integrity & Security: Safeguard sensitive financial and participant data through regular backups and adherence to data protection protocols.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with accounting team, fund administrators, benefits staff, and external partners. Provide training and support to ensure consistent accounting practices across departments and funds.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

Software Proficiency 3–5 years of experience with QuickBooks Desktop required. Additionally, familiarity with trust fund accounting systems (e.g., ISSI, Basys, or similar) a plus.

Microsoft Excel (Advanced)

High proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, data validation, and complex formulas. Ability to analyze large datasets and create dynamic financial models

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, Associates Degree in Accounting with commiserate experience will also be considered

Industry Experience: Prior experience in trust fund accounting or familiarity with Taft-Hartley plans, or multi-employer benefit administration is highly desirable.
