The Estimator I is responsible for estimating projects by gathering proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents.

Primary Responsibilities

• Acquires understanding of the requirements of the project to be estimated
• Prepares concise construction estimate per plans and specifications
• Communicates with subcontractors and vendors to discuss bid preparation
• Site visits to gather essential information
• Ensures timely completion of estimates
• Resolves discrepancies in plans and specifications
• Prepares detailed estimates for review
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a construction estimator
• Understanding of accounting and project management concepts
• Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
• Comfortable with numbers and technology
• Excellent knowledge of bid software
• Great attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Well-organized

Education and/or Experience

• Must be PC literate and proficient in all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook etc), Adobe Pro.
• 3+ years’ experience in construction estimating
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction science or related field or equivalent work experience
• Able to read engineering plans and specification to develop estimates
• Strong understanding of public works construction
• Excellent written, oral communication, and listening skills
• Must be fluent in English
• Strong customer service skills
• Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
