Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem-solver responsible for troubleshooting complex machinery, optimizing manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise in CNC programming, PLC management, and mechanical systems, combined with an analytical mindset to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety throughout our production operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve tooling issues, process concerns, and chronic machine problems to minimize downtime.

  • Perform production setups and edit CNC programs as needed to meet manufacturing specifications.

  • Address electrical and electronic issues; perform PLC implementation, troubleshooting, and program management.

  • Fabricate or modify machine parts (e.g., brackets, chucks, adapters) and gauging using tool room equipment.

2. Process Improvement & Analysis:

  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.

  • Conduct time, motion, method, and speed studies to improve efficiency and establish standard production rates.

  • Lead or assist with the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement (CI) projects.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and participate actively in problem-solving teams.

  • Assist engineers with tool life studies, capability studies, and Return on Investment (ROI) analysis.

3. Project & Team Collaboration:

  • Support the implementation of new and enhanced process tools and technologies.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of products for new and current processes.

  • Engage in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new process implementation.

  • Assist with training machine operators on machining techniques and preventative maintenance (PM) tasks.

4. Safety & Compliance:

  • Adhere to all company policies regarding Housekeeping, Safety, and Environmental requirements (recycling, labeling, spill response).

  • Proactively contribute continuous improvement ideas related to safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping.

  • Comply with and participate in all MPM housekeeping, safety, and environmental policies and programs.

  • Perform other duties as defined by your supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

  • An Associate's Degree or technical certification in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for experience in the automotive industry.

  • Hands-on experience with a variety of equipment, including CNC machines, gear cutting machinery, general machine tools, and heat treat equipment.

Required Proficiencies:

  • Strong proficiency in CNC programming (specifically Fanuc controls), machine setup, and process troubleshooting.

  • Solid knowledge of PLC systems, including programming and implementation.

  • Excellent technical math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of tool room equipment (lathe, mill, grinders, etc.).

  • Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Must be available to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays as scheduled to support production needs.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Performance in this role will be evaluated based on attendance, successful task completion against deadlines, and active contribution to continuous improvement initiatives.
