Production Manager

Full-Time

Indianapolis, IN

Compensation DOE: Up to $115K

Meet your Talent Advisor Dan Witters

This isn’t a clipboard job. The Production Manager owns execution on the floor - leading people, pace, and performance in a nonstop, high-mix environment. The right leader wants the chaos, feeds off pressure, and knows how to bring calm and direction when everything’s on fire.

This role is about presence, passion, and pace. You’ll build strong supervisors, coach them hard, and hold them to the same standard you live by: safety first, flow always, excuses never. You’ll set tone, create rhythm, and make sure every shift runs tight, safe, and accountable - because when the floor’s running right, everything else falls in line.

Production Manager responsibilities:

Lead day-to-day production across all shifts to meet or exceed goals for safety, quality, and output.
  • Develop and mentor supervisors into decisive, floor-driven leaders who coach and own their results.
  • Maintain constant floor presence - drive pace, anticipate problems, and keep product moving.
  • Champion the filler-first mindset - protect flow, flex manpower, and make sure the line never stops.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, and Planning to resolve bottlenecks fast and prevent repeat issues.
  • Hold supervisors and leads accountable for standards, metrics, and follow-through.
  • Run daily production meetings with precision and urgency; keep communication clean and consistent across shifts.
  • Drive safety culture through live correction, visible leadership, and follow-up on every near miss or hazard.
  • Track OEE, downtime, and labor utilization; use data to identify weaknesses and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build a team that can think on their feet, back each other up, and move as one unit under pressure.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management for all production staff.
  • Foster a culture where urgency, pride, and teamwork are non-negotiable.

Production Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred or equivalent hands-on manufacturing leadership experience accepted.
  • 5 years in production leadership, with at least 2 years managing supervisors.
  • Demonstrated history in driving results, building leaders, and thriving under pressure in a high-paced environment.
  • Other successful attributes include:
    · Strong, confident floor leader - commands respect, sets the tone, and keeps people moving.
    · Thrives in a high-speed, ever-changing environment; pressure fuels performance, not stress.
    · Skilled coach who can develop new leaders and strengthen experienced ones.
    · Excellent communicator; clear, direct, and consistent under pressure.
    · Deep understanding of production flow, safety, and process efficiency.
    · Data-driven problem solver with instinctive prioritization - knows what to handle first and who to trust to handle the rest.
