Senior System Administrator III

Overview:
Varada Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to support secure enclave development networks within a mission-critical government environment. As a key member of a small, collaborative, and mostly autonomous team, you will play a vital role in maintaining and securing complex IT systems.
This position involves end-to-end systems administration, including configuration management, troubleshooting, patching, system hardening, and performance tuning across Windows, Linux, and Broadcom VMware environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, hands-on experience with virtualization and storage solutions, and a proactive approach to maintaining system availability, security, and compliance with DoD standards.

Duties:
- Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
- Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
- Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
- Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
- Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot systems and servers.
- Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
- Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.
- Manage system and server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
- Monitor and maintain system and server configurations.
- Perform repairs on faulty system and server hardware.
- Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 15 years’ experience as a System Administrator, OR High school diploma and 20 years’ experience as a System Administrator
- Experience with Windows Sever Administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy
- Familiarity with Linux Server Administration
- Familiarity with Broadcom VMware/ESXi, Broadcom VMWare Virtual Networking, and Broadcom VMware vCenter
- Networking Switching and Router Management
- Storage Management (NetApp)
- Hardware and Operating System troubleshooting
- System hardening
- Security Compliance Scanning (Nessus, ACAS)
- Understanding of project design within the scope of security (RMF) requirements
- Active DoD IAT Level II certification (Security+ )
- Ability to demonstrate cyber/IT related experience with attention to detail, customer service, oral and written communication, and problem solving.
- TS SCI / FSP with MPO, current CI Poly (under 6 years)
Preferred:
- Experience leading the implementation and support of Broadcom VMware virtualized systems and infrastructure
- PowerCLI
- Broadcom VMware Aria Suite, formerly called vRealize Suite
- Broadcom VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Broadcom VMware Certified Professional or other relevant VMware certification.
